The human life is so short, that we must live each minute as happily as possible. Together with my wife, Judit, we used this as our motto when starting a new life in Austria. We both loved sports, nature and meeting new people and cultures. We were looking for a place where we could live our lives as a happy family.
I had already loved travelling as a child, be it a vacation or later work trips. During my studies in some European countries, I have become acquainted with some of the secrets of hospitality.
The year 2008 brought a major change in our lives. I can remember sitting at the table after a family dinner and talking. My brother-in-law, Tibor, was also there. He was a great traveler and an incurable lover of the mountains. After a long conversation, the idea of trying our luck in Austria was born.
Fate swept our family to Rauris in 2009, where we knew from the start that we had found a chest of treasures. With time it became even clearer that this place had everything we were looking for – mountains, nature, peace and happiness. We came here to work in hospitality, yet we ourselves became huge fans of these mountains. This is the reason why our main target group in the beginning were alpinists.
Tibor went on a Himalayan expedition in 2012 and never came back. He remained there, where he always wished to be – in the mountains.
2 years later, in July, our second child was born. Bori’s birth helped us gain a new kind of energy, which only further strengthened our family and beliefs. Our son, Ábel, was already 7 years old at the time.
2015 was an important year in the life of the hotel. Our biggest developments were accomplished then. The renovation of the restaurant, bar, pool and yard took place. Step by step, our hotel for alpinists turned into a family-friendly three-star hotel.
We are keeping up with innovation in technology, we are present on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and the hotel has got its webpage, as well. These are the means to our everyday communication with our community. This is where we present to you Sonnhof, the fruit of our humble work.
As well as running Sonnhof, sport is also an important part in our day-to-day life. We play football, we cycle, run and ski. Our family spends a lot of time in the mountains and we enjoy the possibilities that nature provides.
Our love for the outdoors and active lifestyle is something Judit and I both inherited from our parents and grandparents. It is something we wish to pass down to our children, too. Another thing that I find highly important is the preservation and respect of human values – be it a person that’s a family member, a colleague or a guest.
I try to live every moment of my live with joy and positivity, together with my family.
And I wish to pass this feeling on to our guests, too. During your short stay in our home, I am asking you to seize and enjoy every moment in this wonderful environment. I wish everyone crossing the threshold of our hotel to experience its magic.

We believe that the key to perfect relaxation lies in the impeccable service. This cannot be accomplished without a professional staff. Every single member of our staff works hard every day so that our guests can enjoy themselves in the hotel.
